Any ways how to help our vocals?

A large group of friends and I signed up to sing for a local charity that we're helping fundraise. The thing is that most of us are not that great singers. Is there any home remedies that we can use to help us make our voices more even and clear? We kind of don't want to resort to using our deep voices to make us sound a lot more even. We're just singing gospel songs by the way.
