Worship music copyright?

My church is very old fashioned, we still sing southern gospel, we don't have an actual band and we don't have anyone in the church to form a band. There are 3 people in my church under the age of 40 and the church is dying off because no one wants to change the church and modernize it. I was going to try to give the church some contemporary music to try and maybe get it started but then I learned about the CCL or something like that and you have to have permission to use it as a worship song. I'm not going to get any help from anyone else in the church that knows about copyright so i really need help to save my church please.
